Cow grazing grass

Cow grazing grass

Did you know that You’re a Cow grazing grass?

Why? A cow eats and eats, constantly moving. In the same way, a language learner needs to keep moving all the time, trying different aspects of the language. You (the cow) chew on the language, swallow it, leave it, try to digest it, bring it back, and chew again. You never stop. The more you (the cow) eat the language (the grass), the more of it stays in you.

This metaphor is from a podcast by Luke Thompson from Luke’s English Podcast. It would be a good idea to watch or listen to the entire episode. For those who are in a hurry, the cow thing starts at nearly 35:00. By the way, remember that you can activate automated subtitles on YouTube.

THIS EPISODE IS FOR PRE-INTERMEDIATE AND HIGHER LEVEL STUDENTS.
